1852: 10 c. rose carmine, a delightful large margined strip of three used on 1858 cover to Uetersen, Denmark via Hamburg, all cancelled by Amsterdam half -round datestamps (Aug 5) in black. Straight line "ontoereikend" (Insufficient) finely struck at top as from January 1858 all covers from Netherlands to Denmark had to be fully paid to destination. Thus the adhesives were disregarded as payment and the cover was taxed with manuscript '5' in blue ink (2 sgr. Dutch and 3 sgr. German share), rounded up to '7' schillinge = 22 skilling. A further 4 sk was added (note '26' in red crayon) for the Rayon 1 charge from Hamburg Danish P.O. (datestamp on reverse) to destination. A delightful and rare cover in excellent condition.
