One of these was Prussia and the sheets sent to this country are preserved intact in the postage stamp collection of the German Postal Museum in Berlin. The 2d plate 3 block of 8 formerly joined via the block of 4, IA-JB (recorded in the Karl Louis Card Index Register) the KA-LB block of 4 from the 'Chartwell' collection   Stanley.Gibbons Spec. 1897: 2½ d. on 2 s. dull purple, overprinted SG type 11, a magnificent mint example of excellent centering and colour, fresh and fine, large part original gum. An extremely rare stamp in superlative condition. Ex collection Tompkins (lot 1240, 2006). Signed Bloch. Cert. Friedl (1983) and RPS (1971) Scott 62 = $ 11'500/Gi = £ 11'000.
Note: Just 240 of the 2 shilling stamp were overprinted, the set-up of 30 in the overprinting process gives just 4 stamps with this overprint type in each frame of 30 overprinted. Thus only 32 examples of this stamp can exist of which only 26 have been recorded mint and 3 used by Frank Walton.

1859: Lapirot 2 d. blue, two examples of the Worn Impression used on 1859 cover from Port Louis to Marseille, adhesives with touched to ample margins and of rich colour, cancelled by concentric ring handstamps in black. Reverse with Crown 'Mauritius/GPO' datestamp of despatch (Oct 12) in black. Cover then travelled via Suez with Marseille entry marking (Nov 4) in red. Wrongly charged on arrival with '6' handstamp replaced by '8' décime charge marking in black. Whilst the cover is endorsed 'Gravure Intermediate' in pencil and signed, in our opinion this is an early usage of the worn impression on letter. Minor file folds but a rare and most appealing cover. Signed Calves.
