    Indian Camp Post Offices 1911/1921: King George V's visit to the hunting camp at Khasra, 1911 1 a. postal stationery card to 'His Majesty's Chauffeur' at the Camp, franked by India 1 a., 2 a. and 3 a. all tied by "King Emperor's Camp Post Office" circular monogrammed cancellation in black (Dec 26) with scarce "King Emperor's Camp PO" arrival cds at top left and reverse multi-franked by six different current Nepal adhesives (three imperf. and three Sri Pashupati values) cancelled by Nepali "Sawari Camp" datestamps.     Indian Post Offices 1862/1957c.: Collection with stampless cover with "NEPAUL P.O." datestamp used to Benares via Chuprah, 1881 India ½ a. blue stationery envelope cancelled "D" in bars with NEPAL despatch cds on reverse, 1906 India 2 a. registered stationery envelope up-rated with 2 a. violet mailed to Tibet via Siliguri, ¼ a. stationery cards used from and to Nepal, 1929 combination cover with Tibet ½ tr., 1931 Telegram form and 1935 cover from Raxaul (on Southern border), small group of registered 1930's covers, and a Tibet usage ex Gyantse via Raxaul to Nepal and further 'cross border' covers, 1935 India Jubilee issue frankings ex Nepal to the Bailey family, 1948 Indian up-rated airletter to Sweden etc. Condition as usual somewhat variable but a splendid and most interesting group (64 items).

A fine and scarce group.

    1879/81: Postal reorganisation covers (2) with 1879 usage from Kathmandu to Dailekh with manuscript "Mahasul Chukti 1 anna" (postage fee paid) and struck with "Nepal" cds (July 3) and arrival of Dailekh in black - the earliest recorded usage; and 1881 entire letter with manuscript "Mahasul Chukti 11" (2 pice = ½ anna) mailed from Jaleswar to Kathmandu, just two months before the earliest stamped cover. Rare and most appealing pair.

    1930: 2nd Sri Pasupati 5 r. black & red-brown, the extraordinary document bearing no less than 570 examples (30 x 19) all or nearly handstamped in black and most security punched against re-use, all on huge flimsy rice paper official document - some with faults but most intact - an amazing piece totalling a rate of 2'850 rupees and, one must presume, entirely unique - the Nepali equivalent of 570 Great Britain 1929 PUC £ 1 black stamps on a document Gi = £ 15'390.

    1955: India 1 r. deep dull green, a used block of four cancelled by the sole recorded example of the "INDIAN EMBASSY (NEPAL) / PAR" (Parcels) circular datestamp (19 Aug 1956) in black. Believed unique - most Parcels were sent registered from Nepal and thus the 'Parcels' datestamp appears never to have been put into circulation with the exception of this multiple.     Sri Pasupati Issues 1907/46: First issue with imperforate set of four and imperf. blocks of four 2 p. brown (2), 4 p. green in imperf. blocks of four and six, 16 p. purple in imperf. block of six (one item with no wmk. and another with paper-maker's wmk), unused perf. set adhered to album page and two blocks of four of the 2 p. brown, 1917/30 issue with 2 a. brown in imperforate blocks of four in vastly differing shades and a corner block of twenty (5 x 4), 1930 5 r. black & brown (7) but some slight staining and three very fine unused, 1941 issue with 4 p. green imperforate in blocks of four (4) and six pairs together with perf. block of four; imperf. 16 p. purple-brown with four pairs and two single examples and a perf. block of four; imperf. 32 p. blue in two blocks of four and four singles, a generally fine and interesting lot (56 items).

    1949/83: Unused collection on leaves with 1949 litho pictorial definitive set of nine, 1954 New Currency set of twelve to 2 r. brown-orange, 1954 Map set of twelve, 1956 Coronation set of five (2 sets) plus the scarce 1 r. venetian red used (Gi = £ 500+), 1957 definitive set of twelve, 1959 'Pheasant' set of fourteen values in blocks of four (Gi = £ 720), thereafter seemingly complete with a few imperf. varieties to 1983. A useful lot with most unmounted og., sold together with an 1872 document bearing the circular Lal Mohur seal in red.

    1786/1943: Royal documents (11) each bearing the circular red "Lal Mohur" seal handstamp reading in Devanagri "Shri Durga" (Goddess Durga, the destroyer) and "Bawani" (female) and double edged sword. The earliest document dated May 1786 (1843 BS) with most dated in the mid to late Nineteenth century. Largely fresh and very fine, excellent frontispieces for a Nepal collection.

(4) and 12 a.
