    1914 ( Sep.) 20 Pf. ultramarine overprinted TOGO ANGLO - FRENCH OCCUPATION, overprint 3mm spacing and 5mm off centre to the left, horizontal pair on envelope as correct 2d franking for a standard letter to Wales. The Sender was a British nurse serving with the Togoland Field Force. The stamps are slightly tropical but otherwise clean and fresh, the flap on the reverse shows minor signs of eagerly anticipated mail being opened. The German Regisitration label LOME bears the n umber 370, a British 202 is also on the front of the letter. The letter is censored in red ink by Steed Pope, a much earlier signature than previously recorded by Martin and Walton. A very scarce letter with transit LONDON (5. Jan) and arrival DEVENTER (7. Jan.).

    1915 (May 20.): 2d grey, two examples and 1/2d. green as franking for registered letter from LOME to DELDEN in the Netherlands. The German Regisitration label LOME (partially missing) bears the number 990. In DELDEN the letter was forwarded to MÜNSTER Germany and censored by the Auslandsstelle Emmerich, where it received a sealing strip dated 15. June 1915. A very scarce letter with transit LONDON (7. Jun) and arrival DELDEN (9. Jun.) , a new transit ENSCHEDE (14 Jun.) and an arrival MÜNSTER (16. Jun.) A tremendous letter  of great post-historical significance accross the divide.

    1914/1920: Collection of twenty-five incoming letters with a range of routes taken. The most extraordinary being a Spanish letter first sent on 10. Jan. 1915,  which went via Italy and Germany where it was stamped "ZURÜCK! KEINE BEFÖRDERUNGSGELEGENHEIT", so when it reached Spain again the route endorsement was changed to 'via Inglesa',  the letter franked again and it duly arrived in Togo four weeks later. This and other items are worth close inspection.

    1914/1927: John Mayne's collection of un-overprinted Gold Coast postal history beginning with a service man's letter "no stamps available", followed by a lregistered letter to DAKAR (1. May 15). the total of forty-two letters includes seventeen registered items, mostly in good condition, many with better postmarks and interesting censors, some with foreign destinations.

    1915/21: Collection of two hundred forty entires covering both the ACCRA and LONDON overprints with a good range of better items including censorship, and registered items including good destinations such as SWEDEN, SWITZERLAND, here an example with Swiss PO cachet, indicating stamp theft by foreign censor, Gold Coast DANOE registered letter with block of four 2d, a registered letter with STATION PALIME to the US. A letter franked 1d with cachet received from HM SHIP. NO CHARGE TO BE RAISED, further ltwo registered letters to VERONA, one with LOME Gold Coast type canceller, a German exchange control censor and many other extraordinary letters and cards.     1916/20: 3d brown KGV,  with three line overprint TOGO ANGLO-FRENCH OCCUPATION eight Registered envelopes, size F (seven) and G. One with destination Britain displays the TSEWIE GOLDCOAST obliterated Crown postmarks with German type registration label. Other destinations include local usages and destinations Germany and Holland, both with additional frankings. In addition the lot includes a Specimen envelope in Size F and a size G envelope to the UK, the latter somewhat worn. Still a beautiful batch of rare envelopes in mostly good condition.

    1916/20: 3d brown KGV,  with three line overprint TOGO ANGLO-FRENCH OCCUPATION five Registered envelopes, all Size H, mostly sent to destinations outside the Empire including DAKAR, BASEL, COTONU, and BERLIN, as well as to CAPE COAST. Two, the one to BERLIN and the one to CAPE COAST bear no additional franking, whereas the this would be normal fo one, the other would appear underfranked but not charged postage due. All appear to be genuine commercial usages with transits and some with censors. A beautiful batch of rare envelopes in mostly very good condition. In addition a very fresh unused example.
