    1870 (Jan 17): Large piece from top of Newspaper, franked by 1867 5 pa. orange-yellow tied by bold V.R. POSTE EGIZIANE / ALESSANDRIA datestamp, in combination (for rate to Italy) with Italy 1863 1 c. olive grey single and block of four (Sassone L14) cancelled by ALESSANDRIA D'EGITTO / POSTE ITALINE seal with Arms of Savoy vignette in black. Just one other similar recorded (see Zanaria, Serra & Dal Negro 'Postali Italiani d'Estero', page 198). Magnificent and very rare.
