    1865 (Jan 1): Registered cover to Alexandria, one side flap missing, endorsed at top 'Franca' and 'Per Consegna' in manuscript, struck with oval framed PER CONSEGNA / POSTA EUROPEA ALESSANDRIA in black (Smith fig. 5) with enumerator changed from '000' to '0010' in manuscript crayon, '4' piastre rate in manuscript and Type VI circular POSTA EUROPEA / ALESSANDRIA datestamp at right. Reverse with Type V oval POSTA EUROPEA / MANSURA datestamp of arrival in blue (same day). A marvellous and extremely rare cover for the specialist: Smith states "All registered Posta Europea letters are rare". Signed Todd AIEP.
