    1844 (Oct 24): Entire letter endorsed at top "Service de Santé Publique" to Marseille, with large "Sanita" cachet in black on reverse, mailed through the British Post Office in Alexandria with fine double arc cds in black, slitted for disinfection with circular 'Purifié Au Lazaret / Malte' cachet in black and Marseille entry marking. Interesting contents: "un nouveau cas de peste a été constaté en cette ville sur un Israélite. Toutes les mesures le plus sèvéres ont été preses pour empécher la propogation ulterieure de la maladie..."
