    1851/55: 3 c. dull red horizontal pair overlapped by superb large margined 12 c. black horizontal pair used on cover endorsed "Via Prussian Closed Mail" to Grossherzagtheim, Baden tied by "Holidaysburgh/Pa" cds's (July 24) in black and by "N. York Br. Pkt. Paid" cds in red (July 26). Straight line FRANCO at upper left and reverse with Aachen cds (Aug 8) in red of transit. Some minor faults but a scarce cover of delightful appearance. Cert. PF (1981).
    Note: The "Franco" marking applied in Aachen was only in use from January 23, 1853 until September 1855.
