    1851/57: Washington 10 c. green, Type II, two single examples with cut into to enormous margins, used on 1856 cover to Lyon, France and tied by circular grill handstamps in magenta ink. "Hartford/Ct." datestamp at left (Dec 11) of despatch and erroneously charged in New York with red "3" credit deleted by grill handstamp. Carried direct on the Havre Line and adhesives tied by "Outre-Mer/Havre" entry marking (Dec 27) in red. Charged with '6' decimes handstruck due in black. A scarce and attractive usage.
