    1838c.: Entire letter locally mailed to a Mrs. Ranken at Saltham Lodge, rated "1d." in manuscript alongside superb strike of "BATHURST / N.S.W." handstamp in black. The letter was written by Emily Morisset (1803-1892), wife of Lieut.-Colonel James Morisset (1780-1852), the Police Magistrate in Bathurst at this date, prior to this he was Commandant of the penal settlement on Norfolk Island.
